During this Window we will be upgrading the XenSever hypervisor software that powers our virtualisation environment. We will utilise the XenMotion funtionality during this window to move virtual machines between hosts, but the environment is at risk for the duration of the window as we will have reduced redundancy and the upgrade carries a small risk. The upgrade is necessary for us to install security updates and to support new operating systems such as Windows Server 2012 R2.

During this period we will be performing a software update of our SSL VPN platform in order to provide enhanced browser support. All SSL VPN services will be unavailable whilst the upgrade is carried out. After the upgrade is complete, clients will automatically download the latest software components, which may cause the login process to take longer than normal the first time the SSL VPN is used after the upgrade.

No other services will be affected. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In order to support new operating systems, deliver new features and in preparation for a forthcoming storage migration, we will be upgrading the XenServer hypervisor that powers our primary site virtual server environment at this time.

All virtual machines will require rebooting to complete the upgrade, but disruption should be restricted to a few minutes as virtual machines will be migrated between hosts as the upgrade progresses. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
